Statement of Faith

If I were to choose one small phrase to describe my faith, it would be that I am a “mere Christian.”  Too often we look for labels of denominations or affiliations, but I follow Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.  I enjoy reading and studying those preachers of old such as John Owen, John Calvin and Charles Spurgeon, to name a few, though if asked to declare my creed and allegiance I would say, “It is Jesus Christ.”

I know it’s important to address specifics and I’ll probably update this, but here are a few more details about what I believe:

1. I believe that God is the Creator of all.  He is the Alpha and Omega, having no beginning or end.

2.  I believe that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for my sins.

3.  I believe that He was crucified, buried, and rose again on the third day.  That He appeared again to His disciples and that He now sits at the right hand of the throne of God.

4.  I believe that the Holy Spirit is given to those who accept Christ as Savior.  This likewise affirms my belief in the Holy Trinity.

5.  I believe that the Bible is the only Holy book.  That it is the inerrant, infallible God-breathed Word.  Written by men, inspired by the Holy Spirit.

6.  I believe that the Bible should never be subtracted or added to.

7.  I believe that I am saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

8.  I believe Salvation is the beginning, not the end, meaning upon profession of Jesus as Savior, our lives must be turned over to Him as Lord.

    Greetings!

Just wanted to thank you for posting my article, Be Careful What You Buy In Christian Bookstores. :)

    Grace & peace,

You’re very welcome Marsha. And thank you for publishing an article to warn people of the dangers out there. Just because the bookstore says it’s Christian doesn’t mean we can accept their content as truth. As the Apostle Paul says, “Test Everything. Hold on to the good” I Thessalonians 5:21

just wanted to mention that in the opening paragraph about the radio broadcast between Pastor Boling and James DeYoung on his book, “Burning Down the Shack”, it is said incorrectly that Kevin DeYoung wrote the book…also a great writer (!!) just not this book’s author!
    Thanks!

  4. John says:

Thanks for the catch Ann! Yes Kevin DeYoung is likewise a good author that’s what I get for trying to multi-task.

    God Bless,

    John
