Our Unchanging Savior

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” Hebrews 13:8

If we believe the Bible to be the Word of God and believe that this Word is inerrant and infallible, and I do to all of the above statements, then we must conclude that each verse written within is Truth.  Therefore, we know that the verse from Hebrews above must be true and if so, then how can anyone, in a church or within the secular world attempt to change Jesus or mold Him into something that He isn’t.  We see this happening daily within the church, such as the emerging/emergent churches, seeker sensitive, word-faith, prosperity churches, and obviously world religions all manipulating Jesus for their own personal gain.  But the Bible cannot be changed.  Jesus cannot be changed.  He is the same today as He was when he walked the earth in the flesh.  His Word is unchanging.  The Bible tells us, again in Hebrews, that Jesus is, “the author and finisher of our faith…” Hebrews 12:2 NKJV Think about that verse.  He not only was the Creator/Designer, but He finished our faith, meaning it cannot be changed, the process is complete.  Our faith in Him is complete, because the work is already done.  All we have to do is believe in Him, repent of our sins, and our faith is complete.  Continuing on with Hebrews 13, the author offers a warning, knowing that there would be those that attempt to change Jesus, “Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines.” Hebrews 13:9 NKJV  It is these truths that we must hold on to despite with wind-like changes and manipulations of those around us.

Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Prayer:  Keep your eyes upon Jesus.  Know that He is unchanging, that His death on the cross and resurrection completed our faith.  There is no need to search or believe in anything else.
