The coming evangelical collapse…

This was the headline from a post made at Christian Science Monitor yesterday.  Somehow I missed this article, but it goes hand in hand with the poll and post I made yesterday.  I believe the article is pretty much dead on and I even made some of the same points the author did.  Check out the article, it is definitely worth the read.  Very insightful and thought provoking.  I will add that I believe the evangelical movement has been its own worst enemy.  As I mentioned below, it’s nearly impossible to find a definition that encompasses this movement.  The reasons, as I mentioned, are because it’s so ambiguous and inclusive that there are no real lines drawn as to what it means to be an Evangelical.  One quote from the article I do want to take to task is this:

A small band will work hard to rescue the movement from its demise through theological renewal. This is an attractive, innovative, and tireless community with outstanding media, publishing, and leadership development. Nonetheless, I believe the coming evangelical collapse will not result in a second reformation, though it may result in benefits for many churches and the beginnings of new churches.

I believe this will happen and the groundwork is being laid.  I believe it will occur through media outlets such as this one and many others.  Granted, there may not be a “Second Reformation” with the magnitude and grandeur of the first on, but make no mistake about it, there will be a reformation; there will be a revival.  While it may not produce the numbers of the first, I believe it will be stronger.  What I find very interesting is that the majority of Bible based, sound doctrine, Christian bloggers and media outlets are all on the same page.  We can all see what’s coming, not prophetically, but realistically, the tide is turning.  Now is the time, the ground swell is beginning for the new movement.  Are you ready?

I Corinthians 15:51-52 “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed–in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  For the the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”
