Why it’s More than Politics as Usual

In case you thought arguments for the repeal of “Obamacare” were just political stump speeches and party platforms or mere talking points upon which candidates based their campaign, the links below show that it’s bigger than that.  It can’t be reduced to politics.  No, it’s a battle for religious liberty and much, much more.  The legislation included therein, and largely the worldview of its endorsers, is immoral and imposes an immoral view upon all those who disagree with the distribution of abortive pills.  The striking thing is that the government has the power to impose massive fines PER DAY for all those who refuse to provide the government mandated healthcare.  What business could survive long with those fines (see link below)?  None.  In effect, to disagree with the government’s stance of providing abortive pills to your employees is to put yourself out of business.

I encourage you to read this article first, which describes the issue in toto: http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/tgc/2012/08/01/the-faqs-updates-on-the-contraceptive-abortifacient-mandate/

Next, there is this update on the injunction Hobby Lobby filed hoping to be exempt from the government mandated healthcare.  For now, they have lost and risk $1.3 million/day fines.  Let me repeat that, for refusing to provide their employees abortion inducing drugs, the Christian-run, arts and crafts chain, Hobby Lobby faces fines from the federal government of $474.5 million dollars per year. http://www.dennyburk.com/religious-liberty-dies-at-hobby-lobby/

Despite this decision, Tyndale publishers received a bit of good news regarding their own injunction: http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/judge-grants-company-injunction-against-health-care-law-contraception-efforts/2012/11/18/efdabcf8-31a1-11e2-9cfa-e41bac906cc9_story.html

Still think this is just a political issue or that these issues matter little to you?  Think again.  This is only the beginning, because it’s just a matter of time before this secular philosophy trickles over into churches about what you can/can’t preach.
