Bucket Drops 12/3/10

It’s been awhile since a segment of Bucket Drops.   Not that there hasn’t been any worthy news, more so I haven’t taken much time to read through the news.  Here are a few stories from this week.

Homeschooling Proving ‘Good for America’

“In August 2001, the cover of Time magazine posed this question: “Is Home Schooling Good for America?” Today, as more and more adults who were homeschooled assume positions of leadership and service in our nation, we answer Time’s question with a resounding “Yes!””  This is an interesting article for those engaged in the debate of Homeschooling vs. public school.  I know several homeschooled kids and in my opinion they seem to be ahead of those in public schools.  I realize it’s a small sample size.  Lord willing I’ll be fully immersed in this debate in a few years.

Late-Term Abortionist Moves to Maryland

If you’re reading this and you are either undecided or pro-abortion, I’d love to hear comments on this story.  How anyone can justify abortion is beyond me, but to promote late-term abortion is monstrous. From the article, Maryland’s Freedom of Choice Act prohibits the state from interfering in a woman’s decision to terminate her pregnancy at early stages or at any time if the termination procedure is necessary to protect the life or health of the woman or if the fetus is affected by genetic defect or serious deformity or abnormality.  By contrast, the Nebraska legislature passed a bill in April stating that unborn babies can feel pain at 20 weeks and banning their abortion after the 20-week gestation mark.”  Maryland should be proud that they have declared themselves of deity status and are now able to decide who is genetically fit to enter this world.  I’m amazed that now we are determining the age of pain levels as a factor of abortion.  Lord have mercy on us as the blood of these dead babies cries out.

High School Football Player Flagged for Praying

It was literally just this week I was watching an NFL game between the Cleveland Browns and the Carolina Panthers.  Browns running back Peyton Hillis scored 3 touchdowns during the game, each time dropping to a knee and pointing skyward.  It occurred to me that with subjective restrictions on player celebrations it could only be a matter of time before players start getting penalized for public thanks to God.  Well enter in this story about a high school student who was penalized for that very thing.  Excessive celebration or infringement of freedom of religion?  You decide.  Personally I’m reminded of Daniel refusing to obey the command not to pray, so I’d take the 15-yard penalty every time.

Americans prefer ‘Merry Christmas’ to ‘Happy Holidays’

Not a real shocker, it’s never been the American people who bought into the ‘Happy Holidays’ propaganda, it was always big business forcing it on us.  Now if I can just convince professing Christians to stop joining in with the ‘Happy Holidayers’ in calling it X-mas (no I’m not impressed with the Greek letter X meaning Christ).

“Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as dust on the scales; behold he takes up coastlands like fine dust.” Isaiah 40:15
