Bucket Drops – 10/14/11

After a quiet few weeks or so on the news front, there’s been a lot going on over the last 2 weeks, below are some of the ones I’ve found more interesting.

75 percent of Pastors believe Mormonism is not Christianity.  I don’t know whether the numbers in this survey are encouraging or discouraging.  Even given 1000 pastors, that still leaves 250 who fail to realize the differences between the two religions.

Survey: Bible readers prefer word-for-word over thought-for-thought translation.  This is kind of surprising given how many churches/people use translations such as the NIV.  One can only hope a shift to more literal translations is reflective of more serious Bible study.  For more info, check out this post I wrote on translations.  It provides some helpful insights into the discussions.

How Mormon is Mitt Romney? This is a good article highlighting the chief differences between Mormonism and Christianity, following up the post here yesterday.

Millennial data challenges youth leadersAmerica’s Millennial generation, born between 1980 and 2000, possess world-changing potential, youth leaders were told during a national conference in Nashville, Tenn.”  Of 78 million millennials, only 15% profess to be Christian.  Can you say Unreached People Group?

6 reasons young people leave the church Interesting, though I’m going to say the real #1 reason that young people leave the church is that they are unconverted.
