Bucket Drops 1/8/14

Bucket drops is a series of blog posts I started awhile back to highlight some of the more interesting news stories and their impact on the Christian worldview.  With the new year, it seemed like a good time to re-start the series.

1. An interesting article on a shift of positions on alcohol occurring within evangelicalism: Dealing with alcoholism, my interview with anonymous pastor

2. On the Calvinist Revival.  Surprising that this piece shows up in the NY Times. It could have positive or negative consequences, only time will tell. But sometimes the saying there is “no bad press” is true. For the record, I do not consider myself a neo-calvinist.

3. Modalism in the SBC? As a member of an SBC church, this is concerning. The elephant is in our room

4. Finally, an upcoming debate (Feb. 4) between Bill Nye “The Science Guy” and Ken Ham from Answers in Genesis has been making its rounds through the internet.  The videos below are interesting precursors.

“Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales.” Isaiah 40:15
