About Me

Christian. Husband. Father. Son. Brother. Uncle. Aspiring Author.Reformed Baptist

I’ve been a Christian for about 30 years now and have experienced the grace of God through many ups and downs, trials and blessings.  I began writing here in January of 2009 as an outlet for communicating the truth’s of God’s Word.  Little did I know how much God would use it to grow me in understanding more of Him as He has revealed in His Word.

In 2000, I received a Bachelor of Science (Geology) and in 2001 a Master of Science (Physical Science).  I hope to one day incorporate this science background into my writing ministry, but am uncertain just what that will look like as of now.  Currently I’m pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies from Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary. http://www.cbtseminary.org/

The original inspiration for this website name really came from the song by Casting Crowns.  I thought it perfectly illustrated how so often we listen to the many voices of the world, but fail to listen to the voice that matters most, the Voice of Truth, namely God through His Word, “Thy word is truth.”  Since then, I’ve modified the tagline to “Speaking the Truth in Love” from Ephesians 4:15. My prayer is that someway, God may receive honor and glory through this site as I attempt to communicate His Word.

Statement of Faith

As the Lord continues to grow me through the knowledge of Him, I’ve seen the development of my faith and have realized the increasing necessity to better define one’s beliefs.  Growing up, I never understood the purpose for a confession or creed, so I didn’t really put much stock in it.  But given today’s postmodern culture and various “hybrids”of so called Christianity in which everyone claims Christ but few are talking about the one from the Bible, it seems even more critical to define one’s beliefs.  While it’s true I’ve never held to a particular creed and yes I do believe that there are some who come dangerously close to putting their creed or confession on the level of Scripture it’s become evident, particularly through interaction on this blog, that I must more clearly define what I believe.   So, that said, I will be updating this page to include more definitive beliefs.  For now, feel free to check out the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith which summarizes many of my beliefs.

  1. Greetings!

Just wanted to thank you for posting my article, Be Careful What You Buy In Christian Bookstores. 🙂

    Grace & peace,
    Marsha West

  2. You’re very welcome Marsha. And thank you for publishing an article to warn people of the dangers out there. Just because the bookstore says it’s Christian doesn’t mean we can accept their content as truth. As the Apostle Paul says, “Test Everything. Hold on to the good” I Thessalonians 5:21

  3. just wanted to mention that in the opening paragraph about the radio broadcast between Pastor Boling and James DeYoung on his book, “Burning Down the Shack”, it is said incorrectly that Kevin DeYoung wrote the book…also a great writer (!!) just not this book’s author!

  4. Thanks for the catch Ann! Yes Kevin DeYoung is likewise a good author that’s what I get for trying to multi-task.

    God Bless,

  5. Greetings!

I am Carla Arce from the Philippines and am also God’s daughter. Right now, I am writing a paper about Bible Translations over time from the Old Version to the Tagalog Version which is the vernacular here in our country.

I found your statements appealing on this page: http://voiceoftruthblog.com/which-bible-version-is-right-for-me right after the image of the Bible Translation Chart. I would like to cite you as my source, if you would allow me to. But with this, I kind of need your name for the Bibliography.

You see, it is a school project and I really need your words to give light to my paper. Please? I hope to hear from you soon. God bless you and may you continue to enlighten the world with your words and teachings.

God bless you and more power! 🙂

  6. Carla, thanks for the encouraging words. You may feel free to cite me (John Ferguson), but I am by no means an expert on the subject. I think the post you referenced included several other valuable resources which you may want to consider as references.

God bless you and your studies!

    In Christ alone,

  7. Hi, I just stumbled upon this website tonight and I love it! Keep standing for the truth!

  8. Encouraged – and thrilled! – to read your comments on the Sovereignty of God uncluttered by the Free Will myth. BLESSINGS!

  9. John, just wanted to commune with you especially in regards to your anxiety article. Could you give me your email address so I can contact you?

  10. Oh thank you! From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! For quite some time I have been struggling with so many things and wondering if I am just crazy in the head for feeling and thinking the way I do. And if not, why do I feel like the lone ranger? It is so difficult to find people who will actually speak about the truth and even more difficult to find people who live as they “say” they believe. So so refreshing!!

  11. Thank you for the encouraging comment Wendi! Please let me know if there is anything specific I can help with or address.

  12. Thanks for your articles, yes we are to be careful on what we buy in Christian bookstore, many have distorted the word of God
